What is the Antrodia Cinnamomea?

The Antrodia Cinnamomea (also known as Antrodia Camphorata) is a precious fungus found in Taiwan known for its wide ranging medicinal value. Locally, it’s known as “Niu Chng Chih” (牛樟芝) . This fungus grows restrictedly on decaying empty trunks of the Cinnamomum kanehirai, an endangered aromatic tree. Like the fungus, this tree is also endemic to Taiwan and cannot be found anywhere else.

Historically, the Antrodia Cinnamomea is used as folk medicine in Taiwan by the aborigines to treat alcohol intoxication. Later on, it’s used as a herbal medicine to treat cancer, liver injury, inflammation, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, hypertension, and even itchy skin.

Health Benefits of Antrodia Camphorata ?

Antrodia cinnamomea is a medicinal mushroom that boasts an array of health benefits. In Taiwan, traditional medicine practitioners have been harnessing the power of this mushroom for centuries. The key lies in its biological and medicinal properties including antimicrobial, hepatoprotective activities, and potential anticancer effects.

Scientific studies affirm these therapeutic benefits with evidence showing its ability to protect the liver from damage. This remarkable attribute is attributed to its hepatoprotective activities. Antrodia cinnamomea also stands out because it possesses potent antioxidant qualities – it’s a free radical scavenger which can reduce inflammation in the body.

Emerging research also suggests this edible fungus could aid weight management efforts. Mouse-model studies demonstrate that consumption of Antrodia Cinnamomea led to reduced obesity among subjects fed with high-fat diets.

Moreover, there are indications it may enhance overall wellness by boosting immunity – an important function especially in our current global health climate.
